Meridien Acupuncture Treatments & Techniques

"In hari (Japanese Acupuncture), everything is dealt with as overall disturbances of the patient’s vitality. Focusing on rebuilding the body's constitution brings about the fortification of this vital energy and inevitably concludes with the healing of disease." — From the Japanese Hari Medical Association.

Take some time for yourself and experience the difference that Japanese Acupuncture can make. The doctor, Jonathan Kapsten, emphasizes personalized one on one care.

Testimonials

I received my medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in 1981 and began private practice in Anesthesiology in 1986. I remained in private practice until 1998.

During those 12 years I also studied and practiced Tang Soo Do karate, Tai Chi, Qi gong and Ia-do. Through one of my teachers I was exposed to an energetic healing technique similar to Therapeutic Touch.

Later I became a Reiki healer eventually being 'attuned' to the 3rd level of Reiki, which some call "Reiki Master".

In 1998 I decided to start a second career. I chose acupuncture for its proven effectiveness, its diagnostic rigor and because it offered a more personal and less political form of healing to which I could apply myself. While I could have taken a short physicians' course I felt that the only way to be truly effective was to fully immerse myself in the field. So I returned to school for 3 years of study and clinical training.

I received my Master of Acupuncture degree from the New England School of Acupuncture in 2001.

During my time at school and afterwards I have focused my studies on Japanese Acupuncture. I have studied both in the United States and in Japan. I am a member of the Japanese Toyohari Association, an NCCAOM certified Diplomate in Acupuncture, a licensed acupuncturist and a licensed physician. My current practice is limited to acupuncture.

Appointments generally run between 45 minutes and one hour. The first appointment will be 1.5 hours in order for Doctor Kapsten to learn about you and your health history. There is no additional fee for this extended first session. Payment can be made by check or cash. The fee is due at the time of the visit. Many insurance companies are now reimbursing for Acupuncture treatments. Please check with your insurance company to determine your coverage.
