Our Mission
Founded with the purpose of sustaining the working forests of the region, our business maintains high standards of responsible management on member properties, purchases its members’ logs at harvest time, and coordinates value-added processing by local businesses. We then market our finished wood products throughout the region as HomeGrown Wood™.

HomeGrown Lumber
We process rough-sawn 4/4'' lumber in a variety of species including cherry, red maple, red oak, sugar maple, white ash, yellow/black birch, hickory, beech, and white birch. This material is kiln dried to 7% moisture content. It is sold in random width, random lengths. Material has been sorted to approximate FAS-1 Face grade with up to 10% Select grade type material included in the mix.

HomeGrown Flooring
All flooring is sold in random width (2 ¼'', 3'', 4'', 5'', and 6'') and length bundles (2' to 12'), with 3'', 4'' and 5'' face widths most common. Strips are a tad thicker (25/32'') than the standard 3/4'' inch stock. The standard tongue-and-groove molded pieces have relief on the back and are end-matched. Available species include Cherry, Red/Black Oak, Red/Sugar Maple, Yellow/Black Birch, White Ash, Beech, and White Pine. Please call for product prices and delivery information. Check out current inventory for species and product availability.

How does the Massachusetts Woodlands Cooperative Function?
The Massachusetts Woodlands Cooperative operates as a business that is designed to increase the knowledge and bargaining power of individual landowners. Each member has one vote, regardless of forest ownership size. A Board of Directors provides oversight and direction to the Cooperative with support from a twelve member Working Group of landowners and resource personnel who were involved in creating the Cooperative. Profits generated by the Cooperative are returned to the members in proportion to their use of the Cooperative.
