Slate Roof is a small poetry press that publishes the work of poets in Franklin County and Western Massachusetts. Member poets work collectively to produce limited edition chapbooks with letterpress covers that feature the work of local artists. Attention is paid to typography, paper choice and binding. All books are hand-sewn by our members.

Founded in 2004, Slate Roof now includes six member poets--Jim Bell, Trish Crapo, Susan Middleton, Susie Patlove, Ed Rayher and Art Stein. We hope to welcome new members in spring or summer of 2006.

In 2005, Slate Roof poets gave 18 poetry readings at local town halls, libraries and schools. Watch for announcements of our 2006 reading series.

Slate Roof is supported, in part, by grants from the Local Cultural Councils of Ashfield, Bernardston, Buckland, Gill, Greenfield, Leverett, Montague, Orange, Shelburne Falls and Wendell, local agencies which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
