Qigong (pronounced chee-gong or chee-kung) means literally "working with energy." It is a study of the energy of the whole universe, which includes physics, chemistry, psychology, biology, and medicine. My focus is on medical qigong, the cornerstone of traditional Chinese medicine. Qigong has been practiced in China for over five thousand years and has been shown effective in the prevention and cure of many diseases. Today tens of millions of people in China practice qigong. It can be used to heal one's self and also to help others
Qigong and Western Medicine
Qigong works well in combination with western medicine. For example, people who have surgery recover faster when practicing Qigong or receiving Qigong healing. Wounds and fractures heal more quickly, and pain dissipates requiring less medicine.
My background and training
I have practiced qigong and other types of energy healing for more than eight years. I found qigong to be extremely effective in eliminating my severe chronic pain which had resisted conventional treatments. I am a certified level III Spring Forest Qigong healer and have trained personally with the styles creator, master Chunyi Lin. I have also trained with grandmaster Yuanming Zhang from Chingcheng mountain in China's Sichuan province, highly acclaimed Qigong and internal martial arts master.
Qigong has been shown to help heal many sicknesses, including:
- General pain: back, neck, shoulder, knee, postoperative pains, arthritis and joint pain
- Migraine headaches, sinus problems and allergies
- Spinal problems
- Obesity
- Vision and hearing problems
- Male and female organ problems
- Kidney and liver dysfunction
- Glandular dysfunction such as thyroid problems
- Diabetes
- Gall and kidney stones
- Heart disease: heart attacks, congestive heart failure, recovery from heart surgery and general heart dysfunction
- Circulation problems
- Strokes
- Cancers
- Mental disorders including post traumatic stress disorder, panic attacks, addictions, obsessive/compulsive disorder, hyperactivity and dyslexia
- Stress, anxiety and depression
- Lung problems
- Autoimmune dysfunctions such as AIDS and lupus
- Bone marrow problems
- Comas
- Digestion problems
Removing the Blockage
Once a blockage is formed, energy cannot flow freely in our energy channels. These channels run throughout the body to keep it fully functioning. If we want to get well, we have to remove the blockages and open channels. This rebalances the yin and yang energy.
Ways to remove blockages include taking medicine and receiving qigong treatments. I recommend that you look at qigong as complementing medicine, because western medicine can serve you well in many ways.
Yin and Yang
Our bodies are formed by two kinds of qi–yin and yang. Yin means something female, passive and spiritual; Yang means something male, active, and physical. Pain and sickness are simply symptoms of imbalance of yin and yang. This imbalance creates energy blockages.
